Very few insurance carriers investigate the resulting additional living expense (ALE) claims. That means the industry is experiencing its own flood—attempts to collect inflated or fraudulent reimbursements for replacement housing, food and related costs.
Los Angeles attorney Jon Colman, a frequent speaker on preventing these falsified claims, says, “We see both insureds and service professionals such as contractors and clean-up companies working the system. They understand the opportunities for abuse.”
Learn more about detecting ALE fraud and how to foil the scammers. Attend Jon’s presentation at the Anti-Fraud Conference in Monterey, California. The event will be held on April 17 to 19, 2019.
Jon will be joined by Michael McKee, senior special agent for the National Insurance Crime Bureau and Pete Galassi, senior manager for Mercury Insurance Group. Their session is Wednesday, April 17 at 3:15 to 5:15 p.m.
