At the April 2022 PLRB claims conference in San Antonio, insurance defense attorney Jon Colman presented two sessions of his seminar, Fraud with Catastrophic Losses.

Jon speaks frequently on this area of expertise, pointing out how catastrophes set the stage for insurance fraud and ways to avert it.

He and his co-presenter, Sheri O’Neil of Auto Club Enterprises Group, shared CAT fraud scams to watch for, including those related to wildfires, floods and hurricanes.

They also discussed methods of identifying, investigating and responding to those potentially fraudulent claims. Additional living expense and fair rental value catastrophic claims are especially vulnerable to exaggeration and manipulation.

Jon’s next presentation will be April 14 at the annual Anti-Fraud Alliance Conference in Monterey, Calif., where he’ll lead a panel on high exposure property fraud during COVID.
