In November 2017, James J. Perkins joined the Colman Law Group as a partner. Jim became a named partner in early 2021, and the firm became Colman Perkins Law Group.

Practicing law since 1986, Jim has taken more than 60 successful jury verdicts and thousands of depositions.

He is an associate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the premier organization for trial lawyers in the United States.

Jim specializes in defending large exposure litigation cases and represents insurers in affirmative cases against suspected fraud rings and those alleged to be engaged in the illegal practice of corporate medicine. He also defends first party claims including uninsured and underinsured motorists, comprehensive losses, and commercial and residential losses.

In addition to an active civil litigation practice, Jim has substantial expertise in investigating suspect claims. This includes examinations under oath and preparing related coverage opinions. The Southern California Chapter of IASIU presented Jim with its SIU Attorney of the Year Award in 2017.

Jim obtained his undergraduate degree from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1983 and his law degree from Santa Clara University in 1986. He is licensed in both California and New York and was formerly a partner at two other major civil litigation firms in Los Angeles.
