Richard J. Vilkin
Senior Counsel
Richard Vilkin is senior counsel in the firm’s Las Vegas, Nevada office. He practiced law in Southern California for 17 years and has practiced in Las Vegas for the past 12 years.
Since moving to Nevada in 2002, Richard has practiced civil litigation in the areas of business, real estate, construction, personal injury and homeowner associations. Since 2008, he has served as an Arbitrator for the Eighth Judicial District Court Annexed Arbitration Program and he is a former member of the Editorial Board of Nevada Lawyer magazine.
While practicing in California beginning in 1985, Richard specialized in civil litigation on behalf of insureds and various municipalities and their employees, including the County of Los Angeles and Huntington Beach. In California he served for a number of years as a Judge Pro Tem.
Richard is a member of the California and Nevada bars, as well as admitted to the federal district courts for the District of Nevada and Central District of California. He is also admitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Following his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1975, Richard earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law in 1979. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. After journalism school, Richard worked for five years as a legal and investigative reporter in New York City and Washington, D.C., primarily for The National Law Journal and Legal Times of Washington.
